Vålerenga Fotball has completed the signing of William Silfver-Ramage. The 20-year-old defender has put pen to paper on a contract that ties him to the club for 3.5 years.
He joins from partner club Grorud and will see out the remainder of the 2026 season with them. Silfver-Ramage has played in all 15 of Grorud's matches so far in the Norwegian 2. Divisjon, scoring one goal. He will immediately begin training with Vålerenga's first team.
William Silfver-Ramage is a product of the Vålerenga academy. He was part of the club's youth setup from the age of four until he was 16. Since then, he has had spells at KFUM, Italian side Hellas Verona, and most recently at Grorud. Sporting director Joachim Jonsson highlighted that the player comes from what he called the "extremely good" 2006-born cohort.
"It shows that there are several paths to the first team, and that the club keeps an eye on the talents who leave the club," Jonsson said. Coach Johannes Moesgaard, who knows the player from their time together at KFUM, stated that Silfver-Ramage's foreign adventure gave him valuable experience. Moesgaard also praised the player for performing "brilliantly" in the 2. Divisjon for Grorud this season.
Silfver-Ramage is a defender who can operate as a full-back on both sides. Johannes Moesgaard points to his speed, power, and professional work ethic. His ability to cover multiple positions in the defensive line provides the coaching staff with flexibility. This could be important for a team whose top scorer this season is L.
The fact he already has 15 top-flight matches for Grorud this year means he arrives with match sharpness. His physical attributes suit the Norwegian Eliteserien. The transfer occurs as Vålerenga assesses the standings and plans for the future.
For William Silfver-Ramage, this is a dream come true. He is a self-proclaimed Vålerenga supporter. "It's really great to be able to sign for Vålerenga after not having a direct path here. I am a Vålerenga supporter 110 percent!" he stated. The player is particularly looking forward to eventually playing in front of the Østblokka stand, the club's most iconic section.
His personal connection to the club means he already understands its culture and expectations. He is a player who knows what the shirt represents. His journey back to Intility Arena shows the path isn't always linear, but that talent and hard work can lead home.
Immediately, William Silfver-Ramage will balance training with Vålerenga's first team and match commitments for Grorud. This provides a gradual transition into his new environment. For Vålerenga, the signing represents a long-term investment in a young, Norwegian defender familiar with the club. The contract runs until the end of the 2029 season.
The club's focus can now turn to preparations for the away match at Sarpsborg. With a player like Silfver-Ramage coming in, and with L. Haren in good scoring form, the team has building blocks to improve its position. This signing shows Vålerenga's strategy of developing and reclaiming their own talents.
