Abdoulie Jatta has signed a new three-year contract with Vålerenga Fotball running until 2029. The 17-year-old talent secured his future at the club after an unforgettable weekend where he made his debut on Sunday. The match was a cup tie against Christiania played at Intility Arena, where Vålerenga secured a dominant 7-2 victory.
Jatta made an immediate impact in his first-team debut by scoring his very first goal for the club. It was the fifth goal of the match, coming approximately 60 minutes into the game via a penalty. For the young player, this was the perfect conclusion to a goal he has chased for a long time. "Getting the debut was very fun, and something I have dreamed of for a long time,» Jatta said.
Jatta has a deep history with the club, joining Vålerenga between the ages of 5 and 6 years. He attended Kampen school and Jordal junior high, and is currently attending Valle high school. He is also a familiar face within the setup; Jatta is the cousin of Seedy Jatta, who played for Vålerenga from age 16 until joining Sturm Graz in 2023.
With the new contract, Jatta will now train regularly with the first-team squad moving forward. Manager Johannes Moesgaard has high expectations for the young player's development. "With the opportunities he has been given, I expect him to work hard every single day,» Moesgaard stated.
Vålerenga, led by captain Henrik Bjørdal, looks forward to further developing the player. The team now shifts focus to the upcoming schedule, with the next fixture against Sarpsborg 08 FF (away, 2026-09-07).
