Vålerenga Fotball has been fined for supporter misconduct during the match against Lillestrøm. The club has accepted the penalty from the Norwegian Football Federation's prosecuting authority and will also compensate for damage caused at Åråsen stadion.
The fine relates to supporters' use of fireworks and blinkers, as well as throwing objects onto the pitch during the away fixture, a match Vålerenga lost. The club, currently in a position in the Eliteserien with points from games, stated the violations were against safety regulations.
Vålerenga has started work to identify persons who have breached our sanctions policy and committed vandalism, the club said. Sanction cases are being created and supporters will be excluded.
The financial penalty and repair costs come at a time when the team needs full focus on the pitch. With a recent run of matches without a win, avoiding further distractions is key. The next challenge is an away fixture against KFUM Oslo, a side they drew with earlier in the season.
