Vålerenga Fotball have appointed Lars Petter Kræmer-Andressen as their new sporting director. He will take up the role on 1 October, replacing Joacim Jonsson who announced in August he would leave the club after the season or when a replacement was ready.

The club confirmed the appointment in a press release. Kræmer-Andressen arrives after a long spell at Tromsø, where he held multiple roles including sporting director, managing director, assistant coach for the first team, and academy coach. He contributed to Tromsø's push for medals in the Eliteserien.

The club's clear first choice

Managing director Svein Graff emphasised that Kræmer-Andressen was their top target. He was the club's clear first choice, and they are very happy that he has accepted the job knowing that Swedish, Danish and Norwegian clubs have tried to recruit him in recent years, Graff said.

The club believes he brings strong strategic qualities, a large network, and proven results, and that he understands Vålerenga's challenges and opportunities.

A childhood dream comes true

For Kræmer-Andressen, who is from Ås, the move to Vålerenga is a special moment. He was a Vålerenga supporter as a child and is proud to get this opportunity, the new sporting director said.

He looks forward to starting work and building the club stronger year by year with Vålerenga's staff. He will have overall responsibility for the men's first team and the OBOS Vålerenga Academy.

The appointment comes at a time when Vålerenga sit 12th in the Eliteserien with 23 points from 21 games. Their last five matches have yielded three draws and two defeats. The next challenge is an away fixture against KFUM Oslo on 12 October, an opponent currently in 10th place.
