Marie Moen Preus scored a late winner to secure a key 2-1 away victory for Vålerenga Fotball against Haugesund. The win keeps the team's hopes of a medal place in the Eliteserien alive, despite Rosenborg managing to salvage a point in their own match.

Ronja Arnesen gave Vålerenga an early lead with a volley that took a deflection off Anja Rasmussen. Rasmussen had provided the assist with a sliding cross from the flank. Haugesund equalised before half-time, however, when Anja Rasmussen scored after a weak save from Vålerenga goalkeeper Fanney Birkisdottir from a Kristine Nybrus corner.

The match seemed headed for a draw until Preus decided it in the 83rd minute. Her effort went via Kaja Olsen and beat keeper Frida Kvale Aursland. The victory means Vålerenga remain five points off a medal place, as Rosenborg came back to draw 2-2 in their fixture.

Cille Nilsen scored Rosenborg's leading goal from a penalty in the 90th minute. Ine Berre said she settled the result in stoppage time.

Vålerenga are coming off a 4-1 win against Skeid last weekend, and their recent form shows a pattern of one win, two draws, and two losses. The team's top scorer this season, L. Haren with eight goals, will be central to the attempt to build on this victory.
